It's amazing how little information or studies have been done on this topic. As a result of our statewide action clinic, I'm putting together a "white paper" of sorts to address the economical benefits of registered apprenticeship, but it's next to impossible to find on the web. The program graduated its first class on September 18, 2009. All 15 trainees who started the program graduated, and one has already found employment. The graduation ceremony took place at the Fort Worth Opportunity Center and was hosted by Tarrant County College. Friends and family members of the graduates attended and there was a definite air of excitement and hope. Tarrant County College, Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, and the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) of Fort Worth all put in a lot of hard work and time to make this program such a success but it was the commitment from the trainees, and the support they received from friends and families that really made it work.
