Welcome to the Registered Apprenticeship Community of Practice Web site.

These are tough economic times but there’s never been a more exciting time for Registered Apprenticeship, the public workforce system, education and other partners to collaborate to get more Americans re-skilled and ready to compete for good-paying jobs as our nation recovers and puts people back to work. With the recent passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Green Jobs Act, our systems have been given the opportunity to be a driving force in the revitalization of the U.S. economy —particularly in the new Ă’greenĂ“ economy and the preparation of America’s workers for 21st century careers.

Registered Apprenticeship is a key component of our national economic recovery—from green and advanced manufacturing to construction and healthcare. The emergence of green technologies and growing renewable energy sector opportunities are based in industries with a strong history of Registered Apprenticeship—but this isn’t your father’s apprenticeship. This is a 21st Century Registered Apprenticeship—a strong model for all industries needing skilled workers and for all workers and job seekers needing a leg up to a better life and long-term career.

This community of practice is a work in progress. To reach our goal, we need all Registered Apprenticeship stakeholders to join in and make it your community. We hope to have all kinds of information on Registered Apprenticeship including—but not limited to—

Please explore this community of practice and let us know how you think we might improve it.
